![]() Liz Weir is a professional storyteller and writer from Northern Ireland. Formerly children’s librarian for the city of Belfast, she now travels the world telling stories to adults and children. She organizes workshops, appears at major international festivals (including the National Storytelling Festival in Tennessee and the Australian National Storytelling Festival) and has performed in Israel, Germany, Australia. Other festivals in the United States include Timpanogos, the Hoosier, and the Bay Area. This workshop will examine the practical ways in which communities can engage in the sharing of stories which are held by the individuals within them. Based on many storytelling projects which have taken place in Northern Ireland both during the conflict and in the post-conflict years, the lessons learned can be replicated in many other communities worldwide. Davis grew up hearing gentle fairy tales, simple and silly Jack tales, scary mountain lore, ancient Welsh and Scottish folktales, and-most-important-nourishing true-to-life stories of his own neighbors and kin.
